First Line: "One of the worse things about being fat is feeling thin. Title: The Black Angel
Description: The Fat Man becomes involved with a blackmail plot involving $100,000 in stolen bank money. Brad feels sorry for his visitor. Brad guesses wife troubles and is right. John is worried that his wife Peggy is fooling around because he overheard her say on the phone "Angel, John mustn't know". This is not a nice angel.
Credits: J. Scott Smart, Ed Begley as Sgt. O'Hara. Charles Powers (producer), Bernard Green (music), Gene Kirby (announcer).
Opening Line: [coin placed in slot] [male voice] "Weight: 237 pounds. Fortune: Danger. Who is it?" [J. Scott Smart] "The Fat Man." [music]
First Line: "A fat man is not supposed to have the physical endurance and staying power of the thinner, leaner boys. When he lugs that extra weight around he loses his wind quicker and his muscles tire faster. If you've ever made a forced march with 50 or 60 pounds of equipment on your back, you'll know what I mean about a fat man's extra weight."

Description: Runyon tells the lady that he's not the police, when she announces a murder. She's convinced that a person was murdered in the hotel room next to hers. There is no body. The hotel says nobody used the room. She stands by her story and wants Brad to investigate. The more Brad investigates, the stranger her story becomes. Passwords? Spies? Murder?

First Line: "You know if a young man told me he wanted to be a detective and asked my advice; I think the most important thing I could tell him would be this. The life of a real detective isn't made up of silk dressing gowns, briar pipes and intricate clues any more than the life of a real soldier is made up of pretty uniforms, parades and bugle calls."

Title: A Window for Murder
Description: An old school chum, Eugenia Felt, is in town for a while and invites Brad to dinner at her apartment. Eugenia is a doctor now and a lot less shy than she was. After dinner, she is looking out the window and sees a beautiful redhead being stabbed across the way. Brad and Eugenia go to investigate and find an old lady and a large ball of string instead of a body. The next day, a new assignment for Brad brings him back to the building where Eugenia saw the murder.
Credits: J. Scott Smart, Clark Andrews (director), Mark Winston (music), Sara Burton as Mrs. Woodruff, Alice Frost as Eugenia, Charles Irving (announcer).
Opening Line: [male voice] "There he goes, into that drug store. He's stepping on the scales." [coin placed in slot] "Weight: 237 pounds. Fortune: Danger. Who is it?" [J. Scott Smart] "The Fat Man." [music]
First Line: "In a lot of ways, crime is like disease. It strikes when you least expect it and it's no respecter of persons or classes. It spreads in contagious ways, gnawing and digging at the very backbone of society. Medical science has discovered through the years miracle drugs and vaccines that have completely knocked out many of our most dangerous maladies. But the only inoculation against a confirmed criminal is a strong fist and a fast trigger."
