The Magnificent Montague

Show Information based on John Dunning's book "On The Air"

Situation comedy (1950-1951).

Monty Woolley had first appeared on radio as an acid-tongued foil for Al Jolson. As Montague, he had fallen on hard times. At the height of his Shakespearean glory, 25 years ago, he had married his leading lady, Lily Boheme. Now he must play Uncle Goodheart on the radio while maintaining his membership in the exclusive Proscenium Club and trying desperately to keep his acting friends from learning of his double life.

Monty Woolley as Edwin (the Magnificent) Montague, former Shakespearean actor forced to make his living in (ugh!) radio.
